Junior Orchestra

This course is a continuation of the string fundamentals begun in Beginning Strings and is also the training ensemble for Senior Orchestra. The emphasis is on technical and ensemble playing skills including shifting, vibrato and tuning. Students must be able to attend occasional after-school and evening rehearsals.

The Junior String Orchestra is required to perform in two public concerts.

Students must own or rent an instrument by the end of the first week of class.

Private instruction is encouraged.

Open to: Grades 7-12 Term: 2 sem
Credit: 1 unit (Non-Academic Credit)

Prerequisite: Teacher Approval/Audition

Pay to Particpate: $15 for music, folders, and supplies

Performance Attire: black dress or black blouse and black dress slacks with black dress shoes (girls); white dress shirt and black dress slacks with black socks and black dress shoes (boys)
