Biography
Mr. Nims conducts the four high school choirs at Walnut Hills as well as Chamber Choir and assists with one of the junior high choirs. He taught vocal music at Anderson High School from 2000-2004 and was Director of Choral Activities at Lakota West High School from 2006-2013. His choirs have consistently earned superior ratings at OMEA Adjudicated Events and have performed such large works as Haydn’s Creation, Carmina Burana by Orff, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, the Mozart Requiem, the Rossini Stabat Mater, Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, and the Bach Mass in B minor. Mr. Nims holds the Master of Music degree in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College, where he studied with Joseph Flummerfelt, James Jordan, and Andrew Megill. As a choral singer, Mr. Nims has performed under such renowned conductors as Lorin Maazel, Charles Dutoit, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Alan Gilbert, Neeme Järvi, Helmuth Rilling, and Anton Armstrong. His Bachelor of Music degree in music education is from Ohio Wesleyan University.
